Double Honors for the band: “The Auctioneer”

Nabs IBMA Video Nomination as Hometown Mural Announced in Mountain City, Tennessee

Charlottesville, VA (July 17, 2024)—Rebel Records is proud to celebrate The Kody Norris ShowIn a season of well-deserved recognition. The Kody Norris Show has been nominated for IBMA Music Video of the Year for their rousing and heartwarming take on “The Auctioneer.” The good news doesn’t stop there as it was recently announced that a mural honoring Kody Norris as well as the band has been planned for Mountain City, Tennessee, Norris’ hometown.

In a celebration of community and music, "The Auctioneer" video — produced by ProMotion out of Knoxville, TN — was filmed live last summer at Kody and Mary Rachel’s home in Mountain City, Tennessee, during their annual Backyard Breakdown. With fans traveling from all over to attend, the band decided to make the 2024 event extra special by featuring the live audience as the auction crowd seen throughout the video.

“We’ve always believed in the power of a well-produced video—not just as a performance piece, but as a storytelling tool,” says Kody Norris. “With ‘The Auctioneer,’ we really leaned into that idea. To be recognized with an IBMA nomination for Music Video of the Year is a tremendous honor and it means so much to us that our work is being seen and appreciated on this level.”

"The Auctioneer" was the first single from the band's new album, Highfalutin Hillbilly out now on Rebel Records. Containing twelve songs in all, the record includes a few newly written tunes and some of their favorite classic country hits from throughout the years with a modern flair.

Following the 2024 filming of “The Auctioneer” video at the Backyard Breakdown, the 2025 event marked another major occasion with the announcement of a mural honoring Kody Norris and his lasting musical legacy in Mountain City, Tennessee. The official public unveiling of the mural is scheduled for later this year and promises to be a heartfelt hometown celebration of Norris’s enduring impact on both the local and national music scene. This news came on the cusp of the release of The Kody Norris Show’s latest radio single, “Ruby Jane.”

“Words can not express the amount of gratitude and love I have for my hometown and community,” shares Norris. “I have had the opportunity several times to leave, and each time, it made me realize even more I could never leave Mountain City, Tennessee. I am humbled and honored and thankful!"

The Backyard Breakdown has become a place for not only for outstanding bluegrass performances but also for exciting video shoots and major announcements. Who knows what 2026 will bring?
